It’s safe to assume that X loves doing bids! • Roger Friedman reports that Steve Stoute was slapped with a $500k sexual harassment suit by an ex-employee of his boutique marketing/branding firm. “Mr. Stoute denies the allegations and will vigorously defend himself,” his attorney, Adam Gilbert, told Friedman. “We’re also looking into whether or not she’s defamed him in these papers.” • The National Legal and Policy Center filed an FEC complaint against Sean Combs, contending Combs violated election law in his 2004 "Vote or Die" campaign by promoting Democrat John Kerry and opposing President George W. Bush. 17,000 years later! • Mark “Brother Marquis” Ross, formerly of 2 Live Crew, hit Ice-T and Jay-Z with a lawsuit over the lyrics to Jay-Z’s hit song “99 Problems.” In his lawsuit, Brother Marquis claims he’s been paid just $10,000 in royalties, despite being prominently featured on the original version. Furthermore, Brother Marquis claims that Jay-Z owes him royalties after recording an updated version of “99 Problems,” produced by Rick Rubin. Oh Really: Swizz Beatz appeared in family court in to answer to a child support case. Swizz appeared with his wife Mashonda. Raoul Felder represented Misa Hylton-Brim and now represents Levy. According to a spokesman in Felder's office, Levy is suing for the child to have the "same lifestyle that he would if he lived with the father." Laura Linney also stars. Etc: The 2006 Essence Music Festival is moving to Houston since New Orleans continues to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. Officials said the move is a temporary one. The event is scheduled for July 1-3 at Reliant Park. The festival will feature several concerts, a marketplace and empowerment seminars. A portion of the event will be aimed at helping victims of Katrina.
